A ship caught fire on its way to a port in South Manila. As soon as the news came, there was panic among the passengers. Many even jumped into the sea to save their lives. There were 87 passengers on board the ship at the time of the incident. According to the news agency AP, the incident is of August 27. The ship was on its way to South Manila Port from the city of Kalapan in Oriental Mindoro Province. Smoke started rising from the second deck of the ship, about 1 km from the port. Within no time the flames started rising. Coast Guard officials said the ship that caught fire has the capacity to carry 400 passengers. All the people rescued were near the port when it caught fire. The Philippines Coastal Guard swung into action and everyone was rescued. An official said – 38 crew members and 49 passengers were on board the M/V Asia Philippines ship.
