The fire spread rapidly due to the wind,
a passenger said – We got the news that smoke was coming out of the deck. We got scared. The wind was very strong so the flames were spreading rapidly. People were jumping into the sea. To save my life, I pushed my children into the water, then I also jumped. Coast guards were present nearby. There were many boats too. We got help quickly.

Sea incidents common in the Philippines
An official said incidents at sea are common in the Philippines. There are frequent storms due to which accidents happen. Another reason for this is the poor condition of the ships. Many ships are not repaired on time. Marinetime safety system is also weak.
